Marketing analytics strategist · Milwaukee, Wisconsin

I was hired to write the emails. Then I started measuring them.

Turns out it’s the same skill: know your audience, get to the point, and say it like you mean it—even when the joke doesn’t land. I spent twelve years at MGIC, the last six as the only marketing analyst, getting leadership to agree on what was worth measuring and the data teams to build it. That’s how a department that ran on (admittedly very good!) vibes started running on data. Now I publish my own data projects, mostly about board games, and I’m probably playing one right now. I’m also my wife’s favorite photographer (especially when we’re in Norway).

Estimated incremental new business volume from marketing-engaged contacts, in the first analysis to tie MGIC’s marketing to revenue.

  2. #1Organic traffic

Among competitors, for all six years I owned SEO.

  3. ~$100KCut per year

An IP-targeting partner we dropped after its pilot. I made the case with a dashboard that put vendor-reported numbers next to the ones we could verify.

Why the housing market isn’t a bubble

A dashboard on why today’s high home prices aren’t 2008 all over again: what’s holding prices up, why it won’t pop the same way, the warning signs worth watching, and how it could still go wrong. US data with Milwaukee and Wisconsin alongside.
